1866/1705 2 stampless covers from the Triple Alliance blockade and the Franco Dutch war. The mail was sent unpaid and postage charged to the recipient. The currency of account was the silver Schelling and the bronze Grotten, with twelve Grotten to the Schelling. The currency in common use was the Brabant Sol or Stuiver that equated to two Grotten. The only document known (Copens et al 1993) with a record of the rates is from 1605. This has a single sheet letter charge from Antwep to Cadiz equivalent to 1 schelling 4 grotten, quarter of an ounce or more charged an additional two grotten for each additional weight (unspecified), two shee letters to be charged double,
