1840 1d black collection neatly presented on pages, comprising the check letter FD, with each 1d black plate from 1a to 10 and each 1d red-brown 'black' plate from 1b to 11, each is a fine four-margin example, and as the collector notes: "The refinement of seeking one stamp of identical lettering from each plate, both in Black and Red asks for a task of considerable application and patience"! (S.G. £7'000).
