China, 1897 Large Wide Surcharge on Dowager 2nd printing 4c. on 4ca. pale rose horizontal pair, variety imperforate between, lovely bright colour on fresh white paper, centred just to top left, fine to very fine and fresh unused with much original gum. A choice example of this rare variety. Chan 59e.
