The 2024 Winter Auction - Sale 344 - Day 3

1949 (Dec 24) Kwangtung Peihai to Hong Kong Silver Yuan cover,f.w. Kwangtung Unit stamp x 1, value 5c Silver Yuan, matching the cover to Hong Kong postage, tied by Kwangtung Peihai cds. Peihai was liberated on Dec 4. Under the leniency policy, Military Control Commission allowed this letter to be delivered after the expiry of the grace period. The provincial authority of Pakhai changed from Kwangtung to Kwangsi soon after the inauguration of PRC. Since then it is an important seaport for the South West region.

1949年12月24日北海寄香港銀圓封，貼廣東平信單位銀圓票，合5分銀圓，符合香港平信郵資，銷廣東北海日戳。北海於12月4日已解放，此信寄發時已超越兩週限期，此信可佐證軍管會的寬容政策。在國統時期北海屬於廣東，解放後劃入廣西省。
