Great Britain, ROYAL MAIL, QUEEN VICTORIA, 2 September & 8 November 1856, Queen Victoria received considerable correspondence from persons soliciting favours or employment of which there are two examples below. An envelope from Watford addressed on 2 September 1856 to Queen Victoria whilst at Balmoral, Scotland. It has a pencil initialling, probably of Sir Henry Ponsonby, the Queen's secretary and in the Queen's hand a m/s 'There is no vacancy'.
