Philadelphia, PA. 186x, Temporary Loan of 1862 Hessler X134 F, United States Treasury, Assistant Treasurer of the United States at Philadelphia, Gold Coin Certificate. A newly discovered uncut pair (the original and duplicate) of Pro Patria, listed on page 234 of Gene Hesslers book: An Illustrated History of U.S. Loans 1775-1898 . Rare Gold Coin Certificate. This was a certificate for depositing gold coin for at least thirty days and receiving the principal plus interest when this certificate was surrendered. The amount of gold coin deposited would be hand-written in and these were a multiple part form. This pair of both the original and duplicate, grades Very Fine Plus with bit of toning on the ledger section as shown, a few tiny pin holes and minor edge splits.
