The FIFA World Cup of 2014 will be held in Brazil and is a cause for pride and celebration in this South American country. The preparations cover different aspects of the games, including promotions such as the use of football-themed stamps. The organizing body has decided to continue its stamp collection programme for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and according to latest pronouncements it will be continuing with its centennial philatelic programme which was created in 2004 to commemorate FIFA’s 100 year anniversary. This programme was also incorporated in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups called “Official Commemorative Philatelic Programme” and has been widely successful.

Stamp Collecting Programme Started in Time for FIFA

According to Thierry Weil, the marketing director of FIFA, the stamp collecting programme offers a great opportunity to the officials of the world to play their role in the celebration of the mega event of world football. It also enables a strong national engagement for a global event which will bring together in one place the best of teams playing before billions of people all over the world.

Brazil is hosting the World Cup for the second time since 1950, so there will be a lot of excitement among enthusiasts. Brazil and football seem to have a strong connection - many say that Brazil is the spiritual home of football and residents see football as part and parcel of life. This is the same country which has been considered as the leading nation in the world of football and has produced many of the football greats. So by bringing the game home, they bring the people and their passion together.

The philatelic programme is already going on in Brazil where recently the Brazilian postal service has release additional stamps that will be distributed before the start of World Cup. It will include stamps featuring the registered brand of FIFA such as Host City posters, the Official Emblem and the Official Mascot, Fuleco. The stamp-issuing opportunity is not limited to the host country but to the outside countries as well, and FIFA is welcoming the global postal administrators who wish to be a part of Official Commemorative Philatelic Programme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

FIFA has used the service of the company Bolaffi who are world experts in philately, and have made them responsible for the development, distribution and promotion of the Official Commemorative Philatelic Programme of the FIFA World Cup 2014. As the company is an expert in philately, it is expected that they can bring the football fans and philately together.
