Exquisitely toned with mottled gold, blue-green, and russet and traces of silver-gray remaining. The appearance is very attractive and very original. Nicely struck and exhibiting superb luster on both sides. Among the finest survivors, and for any collector seeking the date, who also appreciates beautiful toning, this might be the very best survivor. The Mint at Denver Colorado struck a total of just over 4 million Barber dimes in 1907, the second year of coinage operations at that facility. Small change was badly needed in the West at that time and the coins circulated heavily when released. Few examples were saved by contemporary collectors. As a result, research has shown the 1907-D is one of the most difficult Denver Mint issues of the series to locate in Mint State conditions, especially as a Superb Gem. Pop 2; 1 finer in 67+.
