Lot 0012a - coins Circulated Coins - Historama SIGNIFICANT JUDAICA Mailbid SalePoland: Litzmannstadt (Lodz Ghetto) 10 Pfenning 1942 Type-2 coin in magnesium; size: 19.5mm; weight: 0.7g. In VF+/EF, but affected by pockmarks from natural corrosion of the metal, but clear detail w/ little/ no wear: date clear & fully visible under moderate light. Guy Franquinet authentication enclosed (considered foremost authority on Ghetto's coins). Ref: KM #TN5, Franquinet-p.63, Feller PO-572, Camp-4751b, Terlecki-250. This was the 2nd version of the Ghetto's coins, much scarcer than dubious 'pattern' pieces of this type offered for sale in various metals other than the original magnesium, which in our opinion are all fakes. Lot 0002a - coins Circulated Coins - Historama SIGNIFICANT JUDAICA Mailbid SaleGermany: 5pf 1941A key date - rare military issue for used in occupied territories; weight: 2.45g. Dark toning on obverse and reverse. On obverse a streak in the zinc color gives appearance of scratch - but it isn't; the blob at lower right corner is dirt on the surface; light wear to highest points and kernel details visible on right side. The lack of kernel detail on left side may be from weak die strike. On reverse: 2-3 very small, light rim nicks; dots of zinc discoloration near letters give incorrect appearance of damage - very light wear. Overall grade EF-AU; KM# 98.
