1860 (Nov 1): Chalon 1 d. carmine-rose, wmk. Large Star, imperforate, a used horizontal strip of four showing large portion of adjoining stamp at left, margins clear to large all round, the first stamp with tiny closed tear at top and the fourth stamp with two diagonal corner creases, neither fault affecting the fine appearance of an extremely rare multiple: the equal second largest multiple of this stamp recorded - with a strip of six being the largest and a block of four and this strip being the second largest multiples recorded.
