1840: 1 d. black, Mulready, letter sheet, forme A241, used from London to Derby, uprated with 1844 1 d. red, lettered QE, dated 24 March 1845, tied by barred oval London Inland '2' in black with additional strike alongside. To reverse a London Lombard Street dispatch in black. The 2 d. rate for up to 1 oz. Some soiling and imperfection including 1 d. red cut into and surface rub to back of letter sheet. Late use and rare combination. The 1 d. Mulready stationery uprated with 1 d. red, used after 1844, with numeral cancel, are very rare. According to the Karl Louis Index only 7 such examples are recorded.
