Turks Islands 1873 (April 4): 1 d. dull rose, no wmk., perf. 11-12½, a horizontal strip of four, second stamp closed tear at top due to opening, used on 1873 mourning envelope to Barbados, cancelled by two bold strikes of the "TI" obliterator in black. "TURKS-ISLANDS" despatch cds at left (Jan 15) in black and reverse with St. THOMAS transit cds and double arc BARBADOS arrival cds (Jan 30). Despite fault, a very rare 4 d. Inter-Island first issue rate cover.
