1840: 1 d. black, Mulready envelope, Frome 4, A175, used locally in London, dated 1 July 1840, cancelled by a fine strike of a red Maltese Cross, with a 'BlackmoreSt.' local receiving house mark alongside in red. To the reverse a backstamp in red. Some imperfection mainly confined to the back, otherwise retains much visual appeal. A fine example Gi = £ 550.
