1861: 6 d. deep blue, wmk. Large Star, intermediate rough perf. 14-16, a single example used on 1871 cover to Port Elizabeth, Natal, CGH, tied by five barred cork cancellation in black (Proud K15 / Hibbert CNA20). "ST. HELENA" cds of despatch in red above (June 1) and manuscript "4" pence in red crayon 2d. credit to St. Helena and 4d. rate to the Cape. Transit cds "CAPE TOWN / CAPE COLONY" at top in black (July 17) and reverse with Port Elizabeth arrival (July 21). The stamp has been lifted for checking and replaced. Most attractive cover, a stamp of great scarcity on letter. Cert. Holcombe (1993).
