1881: 1 c. vermilion on yellowish, 2 c. purple on pale lilac and 7 c. blue on greyish, all with clear to large margins, used on 1881 cover to Nantes, France endorsed "per Steamer Francais", neatly tied by "CAP HAITIEN / HAITI" circular datestamps (Sept 20) in black. Information strike at left, reverse with circular "LIGNE F / PAQ. FR." datestamp (Sept 20) in black (Salles fig. 1590) and thence trans-shipped to the "St. Simon" with circular "LIGNE D / PAQ. FR. No. 2" (Sept 27) in black. A fine and early first issue cover.
