1841: 2 d. blue, plate 4, four single examples lettered ME, MF, OF, PF, margins large to touched, used on 1853 cover to Wellington, New Zealand endorsed "p. Croesus" tied by London '23' numeral obliterators in black. Fine strike of "SHIP LETTER / ♚ / LONDON" in red (Dec 31) on obverse and double arc "Wellington / New Zealand" arrival (May 22, 1854) in black and initially charged with handstruck "3" pence for incoming mail. Forwarded on to Nelson with manuscript "2+3 = 5" pence due. Imperfections but an extremely scarce destination.
