1841: 1 d. pink envelope used in 1854 from Oxford to Lady Frederick Fitzclarence in Bombay, India endorsed "via Marseilles", up-rated with Embossed 1847/48 10 d. brown and 1 s. pale green for ¼ ounce rate, tied by '603' numeral obliterators in black. Reverse with Oxford despatch cds (Feb 7) in red. Overpaid 1 d. due to the value of the envelope apparently being ignored. The 10 d. with some toning removed at base but an exceptional and rare franking.
