Corinphila Auction 291-297 Day 3

1866: India 4 a. green (Gi. 69) used with 1865 ½ a. blue and 2 a. orange (Gi 55+62+69) used on 1875 cover to Marseille endorsed "via Brindisi", tied by "PONDICHERRY / M19" duplexes in black (March 25) paying the under ¼ ounce rate. Black "PD" alongside and carried via Sholapore (March 28) to Bombay (March 29). Thence on the P&O steamer "Deccan" with "Sea / Post Office / C" cds of the same day to Suey and the "Malwa" to Alexandria and "Malta" to Brindisi. Small imperfections but an unusual franking.
