Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 3

1880/1900: Study of mainly Jubilee issue used in conjunction with other issues. Set-out on twenty exhibition pages, comprising twenty-eight examples sent to predominately European destinations. A variety of origins and frankings, a good range of which are less common. Also, several which are scarce. Noted a number of rare items, including an 1888 envelope franked with 2 d. venetian red with Jubilee 2½ d. purple on blue - a unique combination. Amongst others, two covers which are one of fewer than five recorded. As well as a cover franked with the same 2 d. venetian red and a ½ d. slate-blue sent from Hull to Rotterdam - again a unique combination. In the main a fine lot and overall a very scarce assembly (28).
