1858: 2 d. blue, plate 9, in combination with 1862 3 d. rose, plate 2, without dots, clear spandrels and 1865 6 d. deep lilac, plate 5, used on mourning envelope, from London to Albano, Italy, dated 26 May 1865, tied by the 'London N.W.' duplex in black, with oval 'PD' in red and Calais transit cds alongside in black (31 May). To reverse a Roma transit cds (5 June) and circular arrival in black (6 May). Part of flap missing and fault to edges. The 3 d. has two pulled perfs top and the 2 d. a few dulled perfs at base. Otherwise a fine and rare example of a tri-colour 11 d. rate. One of two recorded examples of the 3 d. rose plate 2 used in combination with two other issues.
