1863-66 Watermark Crown CC (23 mm high), on medium thin and slightly soft paper
Perf. 111/2 1d. deep blue, unused without gum, very fine. ONE OF THE RAREST STAMPS OF CEYLON, ONLY THREE UNUSED EXAMPLES ARE RECORDED IN PRIVATE HANDS and the one offered here is one of only two in perfect condition according to the census published by Patrick Pearson in the London Philatelist in may 1984. A VERY UNDERPRICED STAMP as it is of similar rarity as Michel 31 Ic of which four unused are known (SG 50), but which catalogues 12.000 EUR. R.P.S. Certificate (2013). Provenance probably Gordon P. Bailey collection (may 1962 lot 337). S.G. 45, Michel 30 Ic.
