30 reis black, early Intermediate Impression, two horizontal pairs from Plate 1 (positions 9-10, 15-16); both pairs with ample to large margins all round, used on large piece (writing on reverse mentions both Malaga and London) with some ink from the letter showing through on to the adhesives, both pairs tied by framed "PERNAMBUCO SHIELD" datestamps (Ayres fig. 1548) well struck in black (23.7.1843) in September, the second month of use. A remarkable and most attractive usage.
