1872/78: 1 d. brown postal stationery wrapper (H&B WS2), uprated with 1881 1 d. lilac and 1887 ½ d. vermilion, sent from London to Kjøbenhavn, Denmark, dated 22 March 1892, cancelled by a London 'S.E.' cds in black. To reverse two strikes of a circular 'K/ OMB 2' datestamp in black (24 March 1892). Tear into lower right side has been reinforced with transparent tape. Otherwise clean and remarkeably fresh. Rare combination franking. The uprated postage paid for 10 oz. printed paper rate. Comes with ten additinal covers, all with Jubilee 1887 ½ d. vermilion in combination with other frankings. Includes several scarcer and uncommon combinations, such as 1901 mourning envelope sent from Belvoir Castle (Duke of Rutland family seat) sent to Grantham franked with 1887 ½ d. vermilion with 1900 ½ d. dull blue-green (surprisngly rare - fewer than ten covers recorded). Also, amongst others an envelope sent to New York the 2½ d. rate made up of a ½ d. vermilion and a pair of Inland Revenue 1 d. purple fiscal stamps. Condition in the main is fine. A scarce selection (11).
