European Gummed & Perforated paper 1886/87: 3 d. violet (13 JAN 86) on yellowish paper, perf. 11½, without Arms, a used example, some peripheral ageing, on cover endorsed "Privaat" to Pretoria, tied by oval "VRYHEID / NIEUWE REPUBLIEK" datestamp in violet (Feb 5) in combination with Transvaal 1885 2 d. brown-purple, two examples (Gi 177), tied by circular numeral obliterator "11" in black with "UTRECHT / Z.A.R. / ZUID AFRIKA" cds in black at left (Feb 6). Reverse with Utrecht and Pretoria cds's. A few imperfections but a rare combination cover.
