French Post Office in Jerusalem 1876 (Oct 13): Cover front via Jaffa to Marseille, bearing Cérès 30 c. brown, tied by superb “JAFFA SYRIE” cogwheel cds in black, an information strike, superb Jerusalem Cross / Croix potencée de Jérusalem in blue (Steichele no 325 / Pothion = 35 points), and French “PAG. ANG: V. BRIND. A MOD.” entry (June 21) cds in red (wrong month, slug inserted inverted) alongside. As usual for this correspondence, the receiver’s name was cut out of the address tablet and replaced, nevertheless a balanced part cover full of visual appeal. Correct 30 c. rate abroad in the first year of the General Postal Union.
