Letter to his father of June 22, 1863. “Dear Father I will try to writ you a few lines It is with a sad heart that I attempt to write Poo Abner is dead he died on the fourth day of June up to Brashear City. His money and things I don’t know what was dun with them… an Over coat… and a pair of Patns… “ I gow with Prisoners … the rest had not gon to Port Hudson… guarding Genl Banks hed quarters…” Historic representation of this sad time in the history of this country. Garfield, of Ohio: “The Currency” outlines his abhorrence for fiat “paper” money; “The Campaign of the Reserve”. July 31, 1872; “The New Scheme of American Finance” March 6, 1878; Speech decrying the Weaver amendment. Its declaration that “all currency,.....should be issued and its volume controlled by the Government, and not by or through the bank corporations of the country". Office of the Chairman H. J. Fuller, signed by same dated June 29, 1931. Letter discusses uses of” stainless steel being extremely interesting and holds great promise.” Letter also continues to outline the fact that while Rolls-Royce of America, Inc. “is in the frame of mind to consider disposing of the Aircraft Division…producing parts for the Navy Department.” They would be willing to work with other parties to aid in continuing the development of new technologies.
