Lot 1357 - united states half dollars - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841794 O-101 Rarity 4. PCGS graded VG-10. CAC Approved. Overton 101 is distinguishable by star1 pierces Liberty's lowest curl from the bottom, and, on the wreath, the pattern of berries is 10 (left) by 11 (right) for a total count of 21, the only reverse with this berry arrangement. This is the first year of the two-year Flowing Hair half dollar type. A relatively low mintage of 23,464 pieces combined with an extremely low survival rate, makes this a very scarce, premier year date that is coveted by all half dollar collectors. Lovely natural gray surfaces with deeper argent tones in the obverse field. Good detail and discernible rims remain despite the heavy wear throughout. A single lateral mark is noted on Liberty's hair, and a tiny rim nick near the top of the reverse will serve as future identifiers. Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Lot 1358 - united states half dollars - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841795. Overton-124, Rarity 5. 2 Leaves. PCGS graded AU-50. This scarcer die pairing is quickly identified by Star 15 being attached to the bust, and a point of the first star pierces the lowest curl. The variety is further confirmed by a die defect lump in the lower right reverse field. The surfaces are toned a light to medium gray with rose and sea-green accents deepening toward the rims. Numerous obverse adjustment marks are seen, mostly at the peripheries. A couple of shallow scratches and minor scrapes are also intermixed with the mint-made adjustment marks causing little concern. All details are well centered on the planchet, and most of the denticles show, except where interrupted by the adjustment marks, especially along the left obverse border. The design elements are quite well-impressed, with good remaining definition showing on Liberty's hair, and on the eagle's wing and neck feathers. The tops of the letters in AMERICA are weak, as are the eagle's breast and leg feathers. An exceptionally well preserved example of this scarce die pairing. Pop 24; 81 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6052) .
