lot # 175 - united states classic head half cents
1825 C-1 R3 ANACS graded EF40. Rotated Reverse. Slightly glossy medium steel brown and chocolate fading to chocolate brown in protected areas. Smooth and attractive, essentially flawless except for some minor dirt. A tiny hairline scratch under the 5 in the date is the only notable mark, and it is trivial. Sharply struck MDS, Manley state 2.0. The vertical crack from the dentils through the head to the curl on the neck is clear and the reverse is rotated 155 degrees CW from a normal head-to-foot die orientation. Our grade is VF25. The attribution and Rotated Dies feature are noted on the ANACS label.
Estimated Value $150-UP.
Ex Rod Burress, 2010 EAC Sale, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 4/24/2010:93-Dennis Fuoss Collection (lot ticket included).
