Great Britain. Crown, 1845 NGC AU58. S.3882; ESC-282; Dav-105; KM-741. Victoria. Obverse, young portrait of Queen by William Wyon VICTORIA DEI GRATIA around, date below. Reverse, crowned shield within wreath: REGINA FID DEF: BRITANNIARUM, inverted die axis. Cinquefoil edge stops, incuse edge lettering. Usual tiny obverse abrasions but lightly toned near mint state, with sharp overall detail. Prooflike obverse fields and crisp hair detail. Lightly toned. Generally seen in average grades, but rarely seen nicer than this excellent example. NGC graded AU-58.
* English Silver Coinage notes that 'Young Head' Victorian crowns are common in worn to average condition but are very difficult to obtain in EF (Extremely Fine) ESC suggests 'the rarity of an uncirculated specimen would perhaps be R3.'. Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,400
