1 d. black, plate 6, lettered MF, three good to large margins, showing portion of adjoining stamp at right, touching at lower right, affixed to folded entire and cancelled with exceptional strike of the double-lined Maltese Cross of Stonehaven in red, with corresponding black boxed despatch datestamp on reverse (6 August, 1840), to Aberdeen, an exceptional and rare example of this distinctive strike, quite possibly the finest extant.
