 Lot 219 - united states large cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841793 S-1 R4 Chain AMERI. Basal State-1. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. No roughness, essentially just heavily worn except for a script "G" that is neatly engraved into the center of the obverse. Otherwise there are just a few small, shallow planchet voids on the reverse and a few minor contact marks on both sides. LIBER remains visible and the portrait is mostly visible although faint. At least half of the chain remains visible and STATES is complete, which is fortunate since that's where a strong cud break connects TAT to the rim. An extremely rare terminal die state, Breen state VI, for our first large cent. Variety with two leaves following DOLLAR on the edge lettering. Sharpness VF20 or better but covered with uniform moderate granularity. No verdigris and the only notable marks are a light rim bruise opposite the chin and a small chip in the hair left of the jawline. Slightly glossy medium steel brown and light chocolate with reddish chocolate brown in protected areas. EDS, Breen state I, with strong border beads and no die clashmarks.  Lot 230 - united states large cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841793 S-9 R2 Wreath Cent PCGS graded XF40. Variety with a Vine & Bars Edge. Choice glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Sharply struck and nicely centered on a flawless planchet. The only defects are minor contact marks scattered over the obverse, none notable. The best identifying marks are two tiny pinpricks just left of the O in ONE, but it takes a good glass to see them. MDS, Breen state VI, with a die crack from the dentils through CA and the stem to the ribbon and another from the fraction bar through the tip of the ribbon to the U in UNITED.  Lot 225 - united states large cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841793 S-5 R4 Wreath Cent with Large Date & LIBERTY Basal State-1 Counterstamped. Variety with a Vine & Bars Edge. Not much of the designs remain visible but the leaves over the date and parts of the top of the head and LIBERTY are present (although weak), and a few elements on the reverse can be made out with some effort. Portions of the Vine & Bars Edge device remain visible as well. Fortunately enough remains to make a positive attribution. Slightly glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. There is what appears to be a deep planchet void where the left half of the date should be. This piece was counterstamped J.STAPLETON across the obverse and "1858" was carefully hand-engraved above the counterstamp. The surfaces are covered with fine granularity but there is no verdigris. The only marks are a few very shallow pits along the rim behind the portrait. The date is faint but readable when the coin is tilted just right in the light. LIBERTY and most of the legend on the reverse are weak but readable.  Lot 236 - united states large cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841793 S-11c R3- Wreath Cent with Lettered Edge PCGS Genuine Devices Engraved. Variety with a single leaf following DOLLAR on the edge lettering. The obverse is glossy light chocolate brown while the reverse is a darker shade of chocolate with lighter chocolate toning on the devices. All the devices on the obverse have been reengraved to strengthen them while the reverse remains untouched. The obverse offers high-end VF details thanks to the engraving, but the work does not display a lot of expertise. The reverse sharpness is near VF20 but there are areas of pitting on the left side, mostly around UNITED STATE. It is difficult to settle on a grade for this cent; let's say F12 sharpness net G5. Ten points sharper but darkly toned with extremely faint roughness well hidden under a glossy dark olive and chocolate patina. Looks smooth to the unaided eye but there are traces of shallow verdigris in protected areas. Sharply struck with nice eye appeal. The only marks are a tiny rim bruise left of the middle curls and a rim nick at RI in AMERICA. EDS, Breen state I. Mostly smooth and glossy chocolate and steel brown, but this piece is heavily worn and it has a large "X" deeply scratched into the obverse. The portrait and leaves below are clear but the majority of LIBERTY is worn away and the date is gone. Most of UNITED STATES is readable but the remainder of the reverse is faint or worn smooth. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841793 S-11 R3 Wreath Cent with Lettered Edge PCGS Genuine, VG Details Environmental Damage. Sharpness G6 or a bit better but there are deep planchet striations covering most of the obverse and the reverse is moderately rough from a mix of striations and corrosion. The date is only partially visible and those parts are faint, but the leaves, portrait, and LIBERTY remain visible. At least half of the reverse remains visible as well. Steel and medium chocolate brown mixed with darker steel on the reverse. Portions of the Lettered Edge are visible in the slab, but the number of leaves following DOLLAR can not be determined.
