60 reis grey-black, Intermediate Impression on greyish paper, a huge margined example used on January 1845 entire letter from Villa de Montes Claros de Formigas to Rio de Janeiro, Tixeira correspondence, tied by bold strike of oval framed "V. DE FORMIGAS" handstamp in black (Ayres fig. 1525). Illustrated in Juchert "Bull's Eyes on Covers" on page 3357 and also illustrated in L.G. Brookman's article on Saul Newbury's collection in the Collectors Club Centenary handbook (1943). Some tape to prevent splitting of the entire of no importance, with only two Bulls Eye covers recorded with this handstamp, this being undoubtedly the finer. A magnificent and delightful cover.
