Stampless Postal History, 1846 (July 2): folded letter to Granville, France, rated 2/5 and handstamped PAID, postmarked with Carlisle LC double split-ring despatch, carried via Dorchester, New Brunswick (16 Jul), and Halifax (19 Jul), onwards via the steamer "Britannia" to Liverpool, thence via Calais, with red entry c.d.s. on front, to Granville, with c.d.s. arrival backstamp (4 Aug), a scarce example originating in a small town.
