Electric Telegraph Co. 1861/70: Group of the dated 1861 issue designed by C.H. Jeans and printed by Waterlow, perf. 10-12½ with Control numbers in black; with 3 d. ochre (317686) unused with part og., 6 d. scarlet (343903) unused with part og., 1 s. orange (8242) with superb unmounted og. but centred to top, 1 s. orange (673418) with white control label, creased and without gum, 1 s. 6 d. rose (67806) with slight tone spot, superb og., 1 s. 6 d. rose (118369) used with circular datestamp in black; and 3 s. ultramarine (4491) with part og. Scarce group (7 items). Despite faults of great rarity - see the "London Philatelist" (Jan-Feb 2021) article by Brian Callan who states that Peter Langmead recorded less than 10 examples of the 6 d. scarlet were still in existence. A copy of the article is included with the lot. Rare and most elusive.
