British Protectorate 1815-1864 1827 (Dec 28): Entire letter from Corfu to Dublin, Ireland endorsed "Single Sheet" and "Via France" with fine large Coat of Arms "OFFICIO DELLA POSTA GENERALE / CORFU" cachet with "6d." rate in red manuscript, fine hooded CORFU despatch on reverse in black (Jan 15). Disinfected at Otranto by toasting (tong marks evident) and slitting the entire with framed OTRANTO transit in black. In Venice scarce "Jonia" handstamp in red applied with framed "AT" and thence via London to Dublin - an uncommon destination. A fine and unusual entire with chatty letter in English.
