Dos Cabezos, Ariz (Pima). Manuscript postmark (Meyer 5A, rarity 6) with "F.B. White" above (likely personal correspondence sent by postmaster) on registered 1887, 2¢ green entire to San Francisco, Cal., uprated with manuscript canceled 8¢ violet brown (natural s.e.); some faint toning, otherwise Very Fine, the only recorded manuscript postmark from Dos Cabezos.
Estimate; $100 - 150.

Dos Cabezas's post office was established April 8, 1879 and discontinued January 31, 1960. First settled in 1878, the town had a barber shop, a brewery, a general store, brick yard, hotel, blacksmith, and about 300 people. The mines were worked at a snails pace over the next 80 years and the town finally lost its post office in 1960.
