1829-1884: Group of covers circulated inland and to overseas destination, illustrating various rates from 'Free' to '7 d.'. Comprising 12 examples including; a stampless cover with fine red Dublin 'FREE' in crown, three covers franked with a single 1856-1862 6 d. lilac sent from Bedford, Brighton and Glasgow to Cape of Good Hope, Austria and Montreal respectively, also an 1865 6 d. (repaired) used in combination with 1 d. penny plate red with "PD" cancel in red, an attractive advertising envelope '1859 Bradford Triennial Musical Festival' franked with 1857 1 d. red perf. 14, an 1857 1 d. red perf. 16 on wrapper from London to Narbeth in Wales, three examples with single franking of the 1870 Bantam ½ d. rose one of which has instructional 'Contrary to Regulations / S.W' and postage due handstamp, an 1858 2 d. blue plate 12 on envelope sent locally within London and an 1884 cover to Tokyo, Japan, with two 1881 2½ d. blue plate 22 paying the 5 d. rate. Some faults and imperfections to be expected but a scarce assembly (12) Gi = £ 1'720+.
