1848: 10 d. brown, embossed, top corner clipped and part of top cut into, used on mourning cover in combination with two 1854 1 d. red, perf. 16, wmk. small crown, alphabet II, sent from Banbury, Oxfordshire to New York, dated 6 october 1854 (to back Banbury dispatch cds in red), tied by the '46' oval in black, with a New York large circular 'Paid/24' datestamp in red alongside. To the reverse a faint London Transit mark in red. Scarce combination. Only three covers recorded with this mixed franking.
