Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 3

1884 (April 1): 4 d. dull green, wmk. Crown, perf. 14, used on cover, from London to Buenos Aires, Argentina, dated 23 September 1884, tied by the London EC Hoster Machine cancel in black, Type III (Dubus does not list). To the reverse an arrival cds in black (OC 26). Central horizontal filing crease well clear of adhesive. Fine 4 d. single franking. Rare example; only known '1884' overseas destination Hoster mail. 
Note: Dubus does not illustrate this exact cancel. This Hoster is similar to Dubus Type 32 without a star between month and day, the Code is not a number but a letter (X) and London being in larger font.
