Crimean War 1854: Great Britain 1 d. red-brown on very blued paper, Die I, wmk. Small Crown, perf. 16, plate 180, a single and horizontal pair used on 1854 cover to Reading tied on arrival in London by triple "49" numeral obliterators in black. Reverse with large "POST OFFICE / BRITISH ARMY" datestamp (Dec 23) struck in blue and London (Jan 8, 1855) and Reading cds's. A scarce and attractive usage. Cert. Holcombe (1987).
