Boer War, Prisoner of War Mail 1894: 2 d. yellow and 1890/97 2½ d. ultramarine used on registered 1902 cover from a prisoner in Tent 101 at Deadwood Camp to Gotha, Germany tied by circular Maltese Cross handstamps in black. Triangular "PASSED BY CENSOR / DEADWOOD" at left in violet countersigned "EW" by E. Walton in manuscript. St. Helena despatch cds (Feb 11) and registered cachet at base, London transit (March 4) and following day arrival on reverse. Roughly opened at left but correctly rated, a most attractive and scarce usage.
