Austrian Post Office 1867: 3 s. green, coarse whiskers, a fine used (Michel 2/I) example on 1878 Printed Matter rate entire letter to Vienna (Pollak correspondence) tied by neat strike of "ALEXANDRIEN" thimble cds (July 6) in black with arrival cds on reverse. 1867: Essay by American Banknote Co. for 20 pa. value imperforate on thick card, printed in brown and deep brown with legends and duty plate in white. Superb and scarce. Signed Todd AIEP Nile Post E33 = $ 200.

1869: Essays by Prevost of Paris (4) with "EPREUVE" below intricate square "00 PARA" design with Arabic 20 paras overprint (as utilised on 1866 issue) at right, printed in black, yellow, sepia and in green imperforate on thick card. A scarce and fine group. Signed Todd AIEP Nile Post E40 = $ 500+.

1871: Essays by Penasson of Alexandria for the 1872 issue (12), with legend and duty plates omitted, imperforate examples on unwatermarked wove paper printed in green (2, shades), olive-green (2, shades), mauve, lilac, red (2), brown (2, shades) and in blue (2) - this last perforated 15 x 12½, generally fine, one or two with close margins or minor faults but very scarce Nile Post E51 = $ 780+.
